Built for the cold and the wind
What the gear does once you are out there.

A dry living room under the tarp
Two tall poles, a tarp and four guy lines turn a tent door into a porch where you can cook and sit out of the rain. The telescopic poles set to any height, so the tarp sheds water instead of pooling.

Stakes for the ground you actually get
Soft grass, sand, gravel or a pitch that turns rock-hard after a few centimetres – there is a stake for each kind, from light pegs for soft grass to heavy-duty stakes for hard, stony pitches.

Shade and shelter on your terms
Plug-together and telescopic poles hold up a sun sail, an awning or a hammock fly – pack them short, set them tall.

Using a hot tent stove safely
The steps the stove listings give for first use and everyday burning, in short.
Burn it off outdoors first
Before the first night in a tent, light a full fire outside. Coatings and manufacturing residue burn off and stop smoking.
Fireproof base and fresh air
Inside a tent, stand the stove on a fireproof mat and keep the tent ventilated – a wood fire produces carbon monoxide.
Build the chimney
Slot the stainless sections together to the height you need and include the section with the damper. Fit the spark arrestor on top if your stove has one.
Light with everything open
Open the air vent and the damper while the fire catches and until the first smoke clears. Dry wood burns cleaner.
Set the heat
Close the door and open the damper fully for a strong fire; turn the damper down to slow the burn and save wood.
Clean only when cold
Let the stove cool completely, then brush out the ash or empty the pull-out tray. Tools and gloves pack inside the firebox.
Pitching poles and stakes
Telescopic poles: unlock by turning, pull to height and turn back to lock. Run a guy line from the top of each pole to a stake. Drive stakes at about 60° away from the load and leave a few centimetres above ground so you can pull them out again.
Quick fixes
- Smoke when lightingOpen the air vent and the damper together until the fire is going, and use well-dried wood.
- Stove smells on first firesThat is residue burning off – do the outdoor burn-off before using it in a tent.
- Stakes bend in hard groundUse a heavier, thicker stake and drive it at an angle with a hammer rather than straight down.
What buyers say
Real 4- and 5-star reviews from buyers in UK, shortened.
“I couldn't be happier with the Avoforest Tent Stove. The build quality is excellent, and the stove feels sturdy and well-made. It was easy to assemble, and the stainless steel chimney pipes fit together securely. Once set up, it produced great heat and kept our tent warm even during chilly nights.”
“I bought these AVOFOREST telescoping poles to replace a cheap, flimsy set that kept bowing under tension, and the difference is night and day. If you’re tired of dealing with poles that slip or bend the second a breeze picks up, these are well worth the money.”
“Excellent quality, easy to use, very sturdy. Poles come in their own bag, with the strings and everything I thought it was good value for money. Lightweight and suitable for the job.”
“These clip together well and are perfect for supporting the corners of an awning.”
“Really good and strong, have held up the awning on my car tent in windy conditions. No complaints!”
“Great tent pegs! Went through solid French ground with ease. Came out easily with the orange removing part. Would definitely recommend”
“Good quality and done what they're intended for, was on a reinforced pitch and had no issues so good value for money”
“I bought these for my children’s new trampoline, which is set up on grass, and I was quite worried it might move or even blow into the neighbour’s garden during bad weather. With the recent storms we’ve been having, I wanted something sturdy and reliable to keep it securely in place.”
Frequently asked questions
Can I use an AVOFOREST stove inside a tent?
They are built as hot tent stoves. The listings ask for a fireproof mat under the stove, good ventilation because of carbon monoxide, and a chimney routed out of the tent through a heat-resistant opening. Burn the stove off outdoors before the first use.
Can I cook on the stove?
Yes. The flat top takes a kettle or a pan for coffee and simple meals, and the side racks hold a pot or dry a towel. Control the heat with the damper.
How long is each chimney section?
Each stainless section is 12 in (30.5 cm). Depending on the model you get 6, 7 or 12 sections and assemble as many as the height needs; one of them carries the damper.
How tall do the telescopic poles go?
The 32 mm poles go from 88 to 265 cm (2.9–8.7 ft) and each pole is rated for 60 lb. The taller set reaches 280 cm (9.2 ft) and collapses to 87 cm.
Will the telescopic poles collapse in wind?
They use locking joints – the 265 cm model has a second anti-collapse lock – and the brand states they handle winds up to about 40 mph when guyed out. Don’t over-tighten ratchet straps against them.
How do the plug-together poles adjust?
In steps of one section: use all of them for full height (80 in aluminium or 75 in steel) or fewer for a lower pole. You can also join sections into one longer pole and one shorter one.
Which stakes for hard or rocky ground?
The 30 cm spiral-threaded anchors hold where short pegs pull out. The lighter pegs suit normal soil and grass. Drive any stake at an angle, away from the pull, and use a hammer on hard ground.
What are the U- and J-shaped anchors for?
They are 30 cm spiral-threaded anchors for loads that must not move: tents and tarps in wind, trampolines, swings, polytunnels or garden frames.
